Raining and windy in NYC. Thought I might play in the city, but the wet weather and the necessity
Of dragging my luggage reduced me to a quick trip to SOHO to eat lunch and hit the Apple Store.
Apple Store was a bust hipsters were lined up around the block, in the rain, just to get into the store and shop. Quite a sight and one adventure that I could do without. So it was going to be lunch.
Saw a French looking place called Felix, and considering my destination, decided pass it by. Then I saw Taka Taka, a Mexican/Japanese fusion concept featuring Sushi and Tacos…I figured “what the hell”. The sushi was on one of those conveyor belts. A nice assortment of inside out rolls flavored with chipotle sauce or fresh Jalapeños. The tacos were funny. They were rolled to look like Tekka Maki, but with soft flour tortillas in place of Nori. They were laughable and delicious, filled with spiced meat and sautéed veggies.
As I was leaving the mexisushi place I caught a glimpse of the
freedom tower downtown. Looks good for sure, but all it did was remind me of what had been there and why they were gone.
Ah, serendipity. Always a facinating part of travel. Mexisushi, why not? Are you overnight in the city? My best shot there is always the Metropolitan Museum of art. It’s my default place to go, works in any weather.
I would of loved to see a picture of the sushi taco roll. Sounds yummy.
Beautiful
Wish the weather could have been better, love the pic of the travel bag
